Burke County Then and Now

Records indicate that Burke County, Georgia has an extensive history as the area was first established in 1777. After its founding, the county was named after writer, defender of the colonies, and Parliament member, Edmund Burke. With growth in population and an establishment of commerce and infrastructure, Burke County continues to thrive. In present day, Burke County’s history is still acknowledged and celebrated. The celebration of Burke’s history rings even louder during the holidays.

Christmas Celebrations Spotlight Burke History

Christmas celebrations for Burke County and the surrounding are already kicked off for this holiday season. Patrons can plan to participate in many CSRA holiday functions, and one event in Burke County is gaining attention – Christmas on Liberty Square.

On December 3rd, Christmas on Liberty Square starts the celebration at the historic courthouse where a guest speaker will signal the beginning ceremony, and activities will proceed. Activities are available for all ages and cater to many different interests. Caroling, food trucks, and a visit from Santa can be expected. Additionally, to spotlight small businesses, many of Burke’s local businesses are participating in holiday themed crafts, activities, and engaging patrons to showcase their services and products. Lastly, a laser light show will begin to conclude festivities at 8 p.m.

Growth in Burke

With growth in population in the Burke County area and a sprawling infrastructure, SERVPRO® of Augusta South / Wilkes & Buke Counties will offer Emergency Ready Plans. What is an Emergency Ready Plan (ERP)? ERPs are emergency plans tailored to your commercial property such as school, office building, and hospital, that help to mitigate the risks during an emergency. For example, should your building have an emergency water damage from a toilet overflow, your ERP will direct you to how to turn off the water and stop excess water from ruining your building.

Helping create an ERP for your building, is SERVPRO’s step towards making it "Like it never even happened." Simply by trying to prevent initial damages.
